  • Some Updates on My Life
    finally

School: Not much left now. It’s crunch time. I am not so much worried about any of my classes. I will be glad ne the semester is over. I was off school Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Perfect time for sleep and R&R.

Work: A great deal has changed since my last update. Amy is no longer with the company, which is a great relief to me. However, for the time being, we are without a call canter manager, which means more stress put on PJ (our PG program manager and on Kim (Remember Kim? We like Kim.) I volunteered to come in last Saturday to help out and had a spat with our “day shift administrator” who doesn’t know what he is doing. He complainted that I was taking too much of a leadership position. We’ll see what happens with that. Also the supervisor who was selling drugs is no longer employed with Precision. I have had Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and will have Sunday and Monday off work. I am enjoying the much needed vacation from work.

Family: I didn’t get to go out to Okie for Thanksgiving.
Our little family did get together. Mom and I cooked. It was the first time we had all set down and eaten at the table together in quite while. It was enjoyable but not the same as usual. Dad and Ben put new doors on the laundry room and the tool closet. Mom and I watched lots of movies. Rachie and I went shopping. Good times.

Social life: I babysat for Dar-c on Friday. I taught the girls Spades and War. We played the dot and line game. Natalie cheated. It was a good time.

Medical & Baby Related: Growing big. I will post some pictures eventually. Medical bills are a pain in the ass. I am going down to a DES office on Monday as I have it off work.

Major motor control. He rolled over (from stomache to back) during my ultrasound.

He is completely health thus far. They checked everything: heart, kidneys, spine, all finger and toes accounted for.

To quote The 40 Year Old Virgin, “This is my baby and this is my baby’s dick!”
She didn’t actually print out any penis pictures but when you first look at this one, it looks like my son is packing!
That is actually just the ambilical cord, but it looks like a giant phallic member to the naked eye.

During the ultrasound he was kicking like mad and put his hands in front of his face. He is camera shy!

PS. I am at 19 weeks (almost 5 months). I am due in April.

  • Teacher Faces Criminal Charges for Book Choice

A popular English teacher has been placed on paid leave—and faces possible criminal charges—after a student’s parents complained to police that a ninth-grade class reading list contained a book about a murderer who has sex with his victims’ bodies. Kaleb Tierce, 25, is being investigated for allegedly distributing harmful material to a minor after the student selected Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Cormac McCarthy’s “Child of God” off the list and read it.

Tierce, a third-year teacher and assistant football coach at Jim Ned High School, has not been arrested, but his case has caused an uproar in this West Texas town of 700 people. Last week, more than 120 parents and students crowded into a meeting where the school board voted to keep Tierce on paid leave.

Most parents say Tierce should be reinstated, regardless of whether the book is too graphic for teens.  “He’s a great teacher and coach and motivates the kids like no one else can,” said Chris Garcia, whose daughter was in one of Tierce’s classes. “If you’re trying to protect your kids from things in books, you may as well turn off the TV and video games. You try to protect them as much as you can, but these days kids are just exposed to so much.”

In Tuscola, south of Abilene, “Child of God” was on a list of titles compiled by all of the high school English teachers for a pre-Advanced Placement class. Although administrators’ approval was not required for the list, school officials have since removed the book because they deemed it inappropriate for ninth-graders.

The book tells the story of a town’s outsider who is falsely accused of rape, then begins killing people. The character ends up living in a cave with his victims’ decomposing bodies. The 1974 novel “plumbs the depths of human degradation,” according to its back cover.

The parents of one ninth-grade student filed a police report on Oct. 1 with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office earlier this month. Before contacting law enforcement officials, they complained to the teacher and principal, said district Superintendent Kent LeFevre, who declined to reveal their discussions. The superintendent placed Tierce on administrative leave on Oct. 9.

Sheriff’s Sgt. John Cummins said the case will be turned over to the district attorney once the investigation is complete. Distributing harmful material to a minor is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Book controversies in schools and libraries are nothing new, but it’s rare for teachers to be disciplined over them. In 2005, a seventh-grade teacher in Grand Rapids, Mich., was suspended and later transferred to another school after a parent complained about a classroom reading of “Telephone Man,” a story about prejudice containing racial slurs.

Parents have sought to ban various books, including John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men” and J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series, as well as books on Cuba or gay penguins, according to the American Library Association. Last year, schools or public libraries received nearly 550 requests to remove books, the Chicago-based association said.

“When you get to book cases where someone has a difference of opinion, you have to honor these things,” said former teacher Linda Bridges, who is president of the Texas American Federation of Teachers. “But if a book has been vetted and approved by the district, then the teacher has done nothing wrong.”

  • Baby Blues Cartoon for 10/20/2007

Work: This week Amy is out of the office, which is a relief to me, becuase then she is not breathing down my neck. on the negative side it puts a whole new load of stress on Kim, who is already burned out working as many hours as she is and taking on more responsiblity than she should have to. I did write up on 2 of my fellow supervisors for aboslute failure to pay attention and do their jobs. I also wrote up 5 or 6 of the interviewers. I am kind of afraid of become the office bitch again, oh well. Additionally we have recieved report of 2 interviewer, 1 supervisor and 1 spervisor canidate dealing drug at work to coworkers. This pisses me off immensely because I don’t want to work with freaking druggies. It is ridiculous. We also had a shortage of jobs this week which has effected my training and made shifts optional twice. It is worrisome. My company is going down the drain.

    Baby Blues Cartoon for 11/01/2007

School: 4 weeks left of school = frightening in the extreme. I am marginally worried about grades.
His103: Our group sorted it out. They voted for the paper I wrote we recieved an 8 which is one of the highest grade our teacher gives out. I got some more points on my essay quizzes finally. I even had time to read some of the assigned material. My group meet (the d-bag who submitted the other paper didn’t show) and someone else is taking charge for the poster project itself, so I am relieved.
Math142: I sucked ass on my test and got a 78%. Tryth table suck balls. I will need to get them figured out before the final, but I still have an A in the class.
Math180:  <3 good grades, good times, nice people, good professor
Mulicultural divisity: I still need to attend some type of culture experience. I am really getting along with some of the people in the class and I am excited because we will most likely be in several other classes together as I go through the black program. Some of the Christian Preppy bitches aren’t so bad. It gives me hope for my future teaching coworkers.

    Today's Cartoon

Family: My mom freaking loves me. Hardcore and unconditionally. I must drive her crazy.
Rachael is worn out. I feel bad for her. She just taking on too much. I admire her for it though. It so cute because whereever she sleeps so does Kiki (her cat.) Rachie was all curled up in bed and Kiki was right beside her. Rachael fell asleep on the couch and Kiki was next to her in the chair. It was adoreable.
Dad freaked me out the other day. He didn’t eat all day and then passed out. It was scarey. Stupid dad.

Social life: Presently non-existant. I miss my friends. I did have dinner with Brett on Sunday. I can’t get a hhold of Amanda or Ricky or Lindsey easily. If anybody misses me give me a call.

  • Work: Ai carumba. It is just crazy. On Saturday and Sunday I trained 30 some temps, but Monday 5ish of them actually showed up for their first shift. I trained 38 on Thursday and they drove me jee-golly bonkers. They were just a stupid group. They pissed me off. The big boss man is being a douche bag. he has really unrealistic expectations. It makes me crazy, but my paycheck at the end of this week was really big from those 33 hours of overtime I worked the last two weeks! Boo-yah.

    School:
History 103 fiasco: This class is currently a thorn in my side. Beside the fact that I am scrapping by due to essay quizzes every Monday, we had a group project due on Friday. Each member of the group was required to read a book or articles on Defending Slavery and Pro-slavery arguements in the 19th century and we each wrote a paper on it. Then what was due on Friday was a combinatio0n paper from all the research we had already done. I volenteered to write the final paper if they would just upload their papers. Then i work all last weekend and until late everyday this week, so obviously I didn’t have a lot of time to work on it but i am not one to let down my group so I sstayed up all night Thursday (not an easy task) and wrote the paper. I went to submit it to my teacher online only to find out that some other douche bag decide to up and submit one last night. This pissed me off for two reasons: #1 I worked all night on a fucking paper! and #2 the paper that he wrote was a half assed p.o.s. that didn’t meet the assignment requirement and I am depending on a good grade on this assignmeent. SO I went and talked to the teacher and told her what happened and she decided that she ould have the group vote on which paper they wanted. I wouldn’t have been so pissed off if he had at least wrote a good paper, becaue I can understand someone getting ancy and worried that I wasn’t going to turn something in, but he didn’t even ask me or the other group members, he just turn one in. Grr, hiss!!!

Math Classes: I love math. I have a test in MAT142 on Monday. Just need to do the homework and I will be fine because it is all about logical reasoning. I have a test Tuesday on Divisablity rule prime numbers and teahcing theory of fractions, decimals, pedrcentages, ratios. Need to do a little review but I will get an A for sure. I love math classes. I can’t wait for more math next semester.
Mulitcultural divisity: This class is such cake. I am going to a mosque with Asia, my Mulsim coworker for a paper I have to write about culture experience outside my own. It should be cool.

    http://www.arcamax.com/newspics/4/419/41968.gif

Family: Mom and dad are coming home today. I want to clean up the living room and kitchen table a bit and organize all the incoming mail for when they get home. Ben and I went out for dinner last night at Denny’s. It was good because I really wanted to get out of the house for a bit. We easedropped on the conversations around us, I did math homework and he worked in his stetch book. It was good time. Rachael’s been running around a lot this week. It worries me. That girl does to much. (That’s why she’s so cranky all the time.

Social life: I haven’t had much of one lately. Kim (my coworker) has invited me over to hang out at her new house several times. I have had to decline due to homework, but next week I probably will go spend some time with her. I had a telephone conversation wiuth Michael Whitmer and found out what was going on in his life. It has been the least awkward conversation we have had post-break up. I was glad for it. Halloween: I worked. I dressed up as a witch. It was good times. Here’s a picture of us at work. Kim is the nurse.

Medical & Baby Related: I went to the doctor on Friday. Growth of the baby is good. the doctor said I was working to much she gave me a letter for work stating that I was not supposed to go over 40 hours. Yay! I have to make an appointment for a level 2 ultrasound. (We don’t know gender yet will ind out, hopefully at the ultrasound.) i heard the baby’s heart beat again. His heart is like a small army of horses galloping. It is so cool. I also have felt him wigling around a lot this week. It is neat. Be jealous, my body is growing baby and yours is not haha.

  • Work: It’s beter for me because I think Amy and I called truce. The Big Boss Man (our CEO) has been making waves. The place is definitely going down hill. I worry. I  got to work 7 days this week, because we did temp training on Saturday and Sunday. It’s a riot, but at least I don’t hate my job. I think on of my coworker is finial going to call the labor department because she is scheduled for 70 hours a week and they decided to take away her raise.

    School: Nothing new to report.
Family: Mom and Dad are in Oklahoma for a week. It’s very quiet around the house. Ben and I hung out.
Social life: I actually got to see and spend some time with Ricky, Lindsey and even Brett. I miss my friends.

Medical & Baby Related: I found out the worse news of my life the other day. My health insurance doesn’t cover my prenatal care, so I am looking at a $3,500 bill for the Ob/Gyn visits, and I dont’t know how much more for the hospital and delivery stuff, so I am applying for AHCCCS but I think I may make to much money for it. Arg. In other news, so far both the baby and I are healthy and after our next appointment on 11/4 I’ll give you another update. Baby related cravings (hahaha) Milk, Broccoli, Blackberries, Hot Dogs (eeww!), Cinnimon Rolls
