  • This was from an email.

Subject:  Things we are unaware of…

Thank you, the 454 Delegates in Washington DC for screwing the tax paying American citizens.
Letter by a Florida teacher. A teacher speaks out.

This is a subject close to my heart. Do you know that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are not US citizens and who get the PELL grant, which is a federal grant ( no pay back required ) plus other federal grants to go to school?

One student from the Dominican Republic told me that she didn’t want me to find a job for her after she finished my program, because she was getting housing from our housing department and she was getting a PELL grant which paid for her total tuition and books, plus money left over.

She was looking into WAIT which gives students a CREDIT CARD for gas to come to school, and into CARIBE which is a special program (check it out – I did) for immigrants and it pays for child care and all sorts of needs while they go to school or training. The one student I just mentioned told me she was not going to be a US Citizen because she plans to return to the Dominican Republic someday and that she ‘loves HER country.’

I asked her if she felt guilty taking what the U.S. is giving her and then not even bothering to become a citizen and she told me that it doesn’t bother her, because that is what the money is there for!

I asked the CARIBE administration about their program and if you ARE a U.S. Citizen, you don’t qualify for their program. And all the while, I am working a full day, my son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week, and everyone in my family works and pays for our education.

Something is wrong here. I am sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish – enough is enough! Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation — not even close.
Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY
IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP — please pass this along.

I am not against immigration — just come through like everyone else. Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past — and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

    PART OF THE PROBLEM

Think about this: If you don’t want to forward this for fear of offending someone — YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM! It’s Time for Americans to Speak up. If you agree — pass this along. If you don’t agree — delete it!

  • Woot for internet!

I have the internet again, so I can actually post again. Yay!

Not that there is much to post about. I spend most of my time at home chillin’ with Rachie, Tom, Mom, Bruce and occassionally Erica. The house never stays clean and Bruce grows everyday, which is enough to keep me occupied but doesn’t make for very interesting postage.

    Here’s the current update:

Work: is driving me nuts. We have almost no surveys in which means we are getting out way early everynight. I got 25 hours last week. It’s killing me. I’m praying we get more work SOON. Other than the lack of hours it is going really well. I am hoping one person I work with goes away, because I don’t like her. The big boss is on vacation.

School:  I am worried about how I am going to be able to afford next semester, time and money wise. I don’t have someone to watch Bruce in the morning which means that he would have to go to childcare and beside the fact that putting him in day care scares the bannanas out of me, it is really expensive. I may look into an online degree. I am dissatisified with ASU West anyway, they are so podunk.

Family: My mom is a freaking GODDESS! I honestly don’t know how I would live without her. She comes and watches Bruce everyday while I go to work. The phrase “God can’t do everything so he invented mothers” applies in this case. I also enjoy hanging out with her. It makes me happy.

Roommates: It’s a blast living with Tom and Rachael as well. We all make an effort to keep the apartment tidy. Rachie cooks dinner every night; Tom’s a stickler about making sure there are not dishes in the sink. I police Mom’s news papers as they have a way of making their way over to our place.

Bruce (my son): He is getting to be so big. He is now almost 14 lbs and 2 ft tall. He has good head and limb control. He has finally got on some sort of sleeping and eating schedule. For him bed time is about midnight (which make sense as that is around my bedtime) and then he is very much like a hobbit. He wakes up around 6 am for breakfast, goes back to sleep until 8 am at which point he has 2nd breakfast, then elevensies and lunch then second lunch and afternoon tea … I am excited though he is sleeping through 6.5 hours of the night which makes a big difference for me and the quality of sleep I get. He is also quickly developing his ablitiy to grasp objects. He gets a good hold on all his stufffed animals and can hold onto necklaces, shirts, blankets. He is a very skilled hair puller. He is also very attentive and is always looking around at things. Though he’s taking up the bad habit of watching the TV when it’s on. I must nip that in the bud. He doesn’t like being on his tummy so that is the area we are working on because he must spend time on his tummy inorder to work his way up to crawling. Aunt Rachael has taught him how to stick out his tongue. He thinks she is the shit. Let’s hope she doesn’t teach him the word no.

Social Life: It’s slim. I’m occupied. I take Bruce over to see his other Grandma every other sunday. I spent time with Erica. We took Bruce to see Wall-E which was an excellent film that I recommend to all of you. I also went to Liz Pike Wright’s baby shower, which was adoreable. I was glad to see so many old friends.

My life is good I hope your is too.

    P.S. I miss you, Susan.
    I miss you, Bridgette.
    I miss you, Bethany.
    I miss you, Katie Holly.
     and I miss you, Robby.

  • Photobucket

This is a quick post with quick stats. More gory details and pictures to come.

His full name: David Bruce Dakota Gebhart
Born at 11:12am Saturday, April 12, weighing 8lb 1.5 oz, 20 3/4 inches in length with a head that was 14 1/4 inches around!

We are home from the hospital and doing fine!

March 27, 2008

  • This is going to be quick, because I have homeowrk to do, but could not resist giving you guys some form of information on my life. I have been exceptionally busy.

I am working. Love the manager. We are busy again. We are doing cross training so I am learning some new things. I am training my back up for materity leave. I am super stoked. I discovered I  can use my sick days and have 3 full weeks off with 32 hours of pay a week!

I just recently moved into a new apartment. I am at the Diamonte on Bell (33rd ave and Bell) Rachael and I signed the lease on March 18. We got a 868 sq ft 2 bedroom 2 bath for $748 a month (not including utlities, but including a washer and dryer.) Rachael unfortunately won’t be offically moving in until May after she graduates, but I am glad to have a roommate that I know I can live with get along with, and depend on.

We have most of the big funiture moved in thanks to Craigs list. We have a table and chairs in our sunflower themed kitchen, we have a western style living room with a sofa, coffe table, end table, eneterainment center and a 27inch TV, DVD/VCR player and Xbox courtesy of Tom. Bruce’s crib and changing table are all set up. We got dishes and a lot of bathroom stuff from my neighbor. My boss tells me she has a computer desk and chair and microwave for us as well. I have been truly blessed.

The only strange thing for now is sleeping over there alone. I miss being in a house full of people. With Mom and Dad there was not only someone else almost always home, but there was almost always someone awake it the house, so being alone at the apartment is kinda weird for me. Rachael was saying that she doesn’t like staying in our old room by herself either (because “someone might get her” and before they would have gone for me first.) It made me feel loved. She is a goof.

In other news we are down to 10 days before Bruce’s offical due date (Tuesday, April 8th) This is 2 days after the new moon, and Mom is somehow thinking this is very important so I encluded it. I thnk she thinks he is going to come on the full moon, which would be April 19. I pray that is not what happens. I am so ready for him to just be here already. I want him to be born NOW. I hate waiting. It is like impending doom. I could literally pop any second. Mom asked me the other day if I would call her and say it’s time when I new it really wasn’t. I think that would be a great april fools joke, but now I can’t do it because I already told her I wouldn’t be that cruel.

Some intresting info from the baby sites. Picture of your developing baby
    I am in week 38.

    Week 38Trimester 3Baby’s Size
    Baby’s Length
    21-21.5 in.
    Baby’s Weight
    6.5-7 lbs.
     Watermelon

At this point Bruce has started to descend into pelvic station. This lowering is called lightening or dropping. My body is getting ready for lactation.  I am experiencing a surge of energy called the nesting instinct. Every time I leave the apartment I get ansy if everything is not cleaned up and in it’s right place. His movements are slow and big now. Last night he had the hiccups for about 5 minutes. It was an interesting but not altogether comfortable experience. He also getting pushy if I rest things on top my belly. He hateit when I read because I have a tendency to rest my arm on my belly. He digs when I sign though. Some of our favorites are Me and My Bobby McGee, The Leatherwinged Bat, Where have you been Billy Boy, Billy Boy?, and Hush Little Baby.

  • I know I keep doing this. I get all behind.
But most days I am just too tired to write about what is going on with me.

Some days I just want to catch up on my comics.
I don’t want to miss something in the story line, especially of Luann.
Sadly, I enjoy reading these comics more than I like watching TV.
